MulchLoad's Black Hardwood Mulch has been run through the mulch hammer-mill two times.  Black Hardwood Mulch is usually best around stone walkways,  building a path or very shaded areas.  Black Mulch does a very good job keeping weeds from growing with thick applications.  Black Mulch is a great way to add depth to your garden when used around well established bushes and trees.  Black mulch subject to direct sunlight raises soil temperatures leading to stunted, slowed plant growth or even plant death.  MulchLoad does not recommend Black Mulch around newly planted gardens or flower beds.
